Hoover Launches the Fifth Best Javelin Throw in the Nation
Washington County senior Jesse Hoover is one of the best javelin throwers in the nation.
Last week at Royal Valley, she set to school record with a throw of 158’0”. Not only is it the top mark in the state this season, but it’s the fifth best mark in the country for 2025.
Also, it’s the 14th best throw in Kansas history among all classifications.
Jesse has appeared in the state meet in all three years so far and has been an integral part of the Tigers back-to-back 1A State Championships.
Jesse also competes in the discus and is a member of the 4x100m relay team. She’s an alternate for the 4x400m relay team, which she competed on and medaled at the state meet during her sophomore season.
Head coach Jerry Baker says that her success has come from hard work and dedication in learning the proper throwing technique.
