VanHoutan helps Oskaloosa to first league title since 2018

The Oskaloosa baseball team secured their first NEKL title since 2018 last week after sweeping the defending champs Valley Falls 7-3 and 10-4.

The Bears were 13-1 in league play and finished the regular season with a record of 15-5 overall.

Sophomore Trenton VanHoutan was consistent from day one and played like one of the best players in the NEKL.

On the mound, Trenton was 7-0 with a 1.85 ERA with 72 strikeouts in 37 innings. At the plate, Trenton has a .359 batting average with two home runs, 18 RBI’s, 27 runs scored and 12 stolen bases.

Oskaloosa appears to have a top-four seed locked up in the KC Christian 2-1A Regional Tournament next week.
