Cortes with strong start for Holton Track

The Holton Track and Field squad got off to a great start last week with the girls winning their home invitational.

There were seven teams competing and the Wildcats’ 177 points were 63 points more than second place finisher Hayden.

Sophomore Eva Cortes helped the Wildcats to that first-place finish. Eva won the 1600 meter run by more than three seconds and she won the 3200 meter run by more than 90 seconds.

Eva was also part of the 4x800 meter relay team that finished in first-place by more than 30 seconds.

Holton will continue their season this week with events at Jefferson West and Atchison.
