Gilbert Leads Hiawatha to a 3-1 Start to the Season
Carson Gilbert of the Hiawatha baseball team has helped lead the Red Hawks to a 3-1 start to the season last week.
Carson helped lead his team to a game two win over Troy by pitching a 5-inning, 10-0 shutout victory.
He then got win number two and helped Hiawatha to a 28-0 win over Horton just three days later. On the mound, 2-0 in two starts with eight strikeouts and one walk with no runs allowed.
Offensively, Carson went 7 for 9 at the plate with six singles and a triple which comes out to a batting average of .778 while also having eight stolen bases.
Carson plans on attending Washburn University this fall and majoring in business management.
