Spikers Strong Performance on the Mound Leads D-West Baseball

There is no other way to describe the season start for the Doniphan West baseball team other than up and down.

The Mustangs are off to a 3-5 start but last week in a split with ACCHS got a dominant pitching performance from Trent Spiker in a 6-5 victory.

Spiker tossed six innings of no-hit baseball allowing two unearned runs as he walked just three while striking out 13 on 108 pitches.

To go along with the performance on the mound he was also 2-for-4 at the plate with a run scored.

On the young season Spiker is hitting .450 through eight games with eight RBIs, 13 runs scored and nine walks.

This comes after a strong summer season with the Doniphan County legion team where he hit .371 with 20 RBIs and 22 runs scored.

Spiker will look to continue to lead the Mustangs in the right direction as Doniphan West is scheduled to host Troy on Friday night.
