Capping off a year with a State title is always great, but capping off a career makes it even sweeter and that is what Marysville senior, Josh Nelsen did claiming the 3-2-1A State wrestling title at 170lbs.

The Marysville senior put together a season to remember in his final year on the mats for Marysville dominating the competition on a regular basis throughout the year. At State Nelsen started the tournament off with a pinfall win in 2:45 and followed that up with a 4-2 decision win to get into the Semifinals. In the Semifinals it was a slim margin but Nelsen earned the 3-2 decision win to make the Championship bout and laid claim to the State title at 170lbs with a 7-2 decision win.

The 4-0 performance at State was the final statement in a 37-3 season in which Nelsen picked up multiple great performances at tournaments, a Regional title, State title and was ranked number one by the KWCA at 170lbs a majority of the season. Josh finishes his Marysville career having qualified for State three times and placed twice with his State title this year and a fourth place finish last year at 160lbs.

Nelsen closes out his wrestling career the way anyone would want with a State title and a year to remember going out on top.
