Gilliland Continues Strong Season for Holton Wrestling

Holton’s Marley Gilliland has been named Athlete of the Week after adding another highlight to an already strong season. Competing at 190 pounds, Gilliland captured the Big East League title this past week, continuing her consistent success on the mat.

Gilliland holds a 27–2 record this season and is ranked #3 Class 4A and #9 overall in her weight class across all classifications. She has been a steady force for the Wildcats, remaining undefeated in dual competition while taking on some of the top competition in the state.

In addition to her league championship, Gilliland has earned first-place finishes at Clay Center, Burlington, and Silver Lake, showing her ability to perform at a high level in a variety of tournaments. As the postseason approaches, Gilliland will look to build on last year’s fifth-place finish at the state tournament and make another strong run toward state.
