Husker Softball Team Loses In Extra Innings

 Kimberlee Souza lined the first pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning over the left center-field wall to give Washington a 4-3 win over Nebraska in the opening game of the Women's College World Series on Thursday.

Down 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Washington (44-15) rallied when Victoria Hayward lined a ball that slid under the glove of right fielder Brooke Thomason for a triple. A sacrifice squeeze by Hooch Fagaly scored Hayward to send the game to extra innings.

The Huskers will take on Florida Saturday at 11 a-m in the losers bracket.  Floriad lost ot Tennessee Thursday 9-2.

If the Huskers win on Saturday they move on to play at 6 p-m against the loser of the Texas and Oklahoma game.  Top ranked Oklahoma defeated Michigan 7-1 in the opener.  Texas beat Arizona State in the first round.
