Peru State and Benedictine Split Weekend Baseball Series

04/08/2013 1:47 PM | Regional Sports | John Nixon

After dropping a pair of games to the division leading Benedictine College Ravens on Saturday, the Peru State Bobcat baseball team responded with two huge wins on Sunday.

On Saturday, the 'Cats dropped their games 6-5 and 9-4.  On Sunday, Peru State pounded out 31 hits in the two contests to easily win 10-1 and 16-3.

With the split, Peru State is now 15-15 overall and 8-8 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC).  The Western Division leaders are now 14-13 overall and 10-4 in the HAAC.

After playing nine games last week, if Mother Nature permits, Peru State will only play five games this week.

On Wednesday, the Bobcats will play one nine-inning contest in Nebraska City as hosts to the Midland University Warriors.  It will be a twilight game that is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

This weekend, Peru State has another important four-game HAAC series on the road as they travel to Kansas City, Mo., to face the Avila University Eagles.  Double headers are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
