Auburn's Hug to Play Softball at Peru State

11/23/2012 9:16 AM | Local Sports | John Nixon

The number of signed recruits to play for the Peru State Bobcat softball team rose to four this week as head coach Mark Mathews signed two more high school seniors including one from Auburn.

Haevyn Hug, an Auburn Bulldog softball standout, signed her letter of intent with her entire family being present.    Her parents, Matt and Traci, are both PSC graduates with Matt being part of the 1990 Bobcat Football Championship Team.

Hug is a three-year letter winner for the Bulldogs and was coached by PSC alum, Shannon Cole.  In 2011 and 2012, Hug was awarded the Most Valuable Player Award.   This past fall, Hug hit .494 and earned honorable mention recognition in both the Omaha World Herald and Lincoln Journal Star at the end of the season.  Hug served as captain of her Bulldog team.
