Perry Native & Ottawa QB Shane Gimzo Named KCAC Player of Year

Former Perry Lecompton Kaw and Perry native, Shane Gimzo earned Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year and first team conference honors for his performance this season for Ottawa University.

The Ottawa senior quarterback, helped the Braves to a 8-2 overall record this season to finish the year ranked #15 nationally and win the KCAC conference this year. Gimzo threw for 2,177 yards this season on a 65.5% completion percentage and connected for 22 TD's with his teammates. On top of his passing numbers he rushed for 749 yards on 190 carries and scored 19 TD's on the ground.

Gimzo wasn't the only former Kanzaland area athlete in the KCAC league to earn postseason honors as former Pleasant Ridge Ram, Will Ryan earned second team KCAC offense. Ryan a sophomore plays runningback for St. Mary's who finished the season 6-5 on the year. Ryan carried the ball 133 times this season rushing for 666 yards (5 ypc) and five TD's and 32 receptions for 200 yards and a TD.
