Royal Valley Blanks Holton to Emphatically End 30 Year Losing Steak

The Royal Valley Panthers not only beat Holton for the first time in 30 years and 30 games, but they completely dominated the Big East Jackson County matchup by a score of 35-0. The Panthers scored touchdowns on all five possessions in the week two battle, while pitching a shutout and holding the visiting Wildcats to just 125 total yards, half of which came on the final drive of the game. 

Manny Oliverira ran for 150 yards on 21 carries and scored three touchdowns as the Panthers picked up 19 first down and converted 9 of 10 times on third down with a fourth down conversion as well. The Panthers were 2-2 passing and ran for 300 total yards with Cooper Stevens adding 79 yards and Alex Johnson running for 65 and both scored a touchdown behind a huge and dominant line. Royal Valley (1-1) will try to ride the momentum playing at Nemaha Central next week.

Holton was 0-4 passing and sacked three other times while averaging less than three yards per carry. Jerome Williams led the Cats with 67 yards on 16 carries while Jarrett Abel added 54 yards on 14 carries. Holton converted only 2 of 11 times on third down falling to 0-2 on the season and will be at Baldwin in week three.
