Nemaha Central Boys Qualify for State with Runner-Up Finish at Regional's

The Nemaha Central boys golf team earned a runner-up finish at the Class 3A Regional Tournament on Monday at Salina Municipal Golf Course, securing a berth in next week’s state tournament at Lake Shawnee.

The Thunder posted a team score of 334 to finish second overall and qualify for the Class 3A State Tournament. Hesston Swathers captured the regional title with a score of 296, while Marysville Bulldogs claimed the final team qualifying spot in third place with a score of 336.

Layton Thomas led Nemaha Central with a round of 78, good for a fifth-place individual finish. Brady Koch added an 80 to place 11th overall, while Colten Corby finished 14th with a round of 85.

Hesston claimed the top two individual finishes in the tournament, led by Carter Frey, who won the regional title with a 71. Teammate Austin Prenner finished runner-up after carding a 72.
