St. Marys Boys Finish Third at Regional's to Qualify for State

The St. Marys boys golf team earned a third-place finish at the Class 2A Regional Tournament on Monday at Western Hills Golf Club, securing a berth in next week’s state tournament.

The Bears posted a team score of 370 to qualify for the Class 2A State Tournament at Quail Ridge Golf Course in Winfield. Salina Sacred Heart Knights captured the regional title with a score of 315, while Cair Paravel Lions finished runner-up with a 338 to also advance to state competition.

St. Marys was led by Stewart Garland, who placed 11th overall with a round of 88. Ben DeVader tied for 13th place after shooting a 90, while Aiden Waters tied for 15th with a round of 91.

Additional individual state qualifiers included Jack Donovan of Rossville, who finished third overall with a 76, Curtis Hammersmith of Horton in ninth place with an 86, Austin Dohrman of Rossville in 10th place with an 86, and Tucker Huband of Washington County in 14th place with a 90.
