Top 10 Moments of 2025: #6 - Clutch Hitting and Stellar Pitching Lead Bears to Historic State Win

After six nail-biting games at the 2-1A State Tournament in Pratt that were decided by two runs or fewer, Oskaloosa saved its best performance for the biggest stage. The Bears exploded offensively in the championship game, scoring twice in the first inning and never looking back, pulling away for an 8–1 victory over Inman to claim the first state softball championship in school history.

Oskaloosa’s win was powered by key contributions from Keirstyn Mitchell, Harper Heston, Lydia Turner, and Mayzie Peak, while Karleigh Warriner added an unforgettable inside-the-park home run to seal the historic victory. In the circle, Lily Pullen was dominant, pitching a complete game with 13 strikeouts and finishing the tournament with a remarkable 21 innings, allowing only two runs and striking out 36 batters.

The Bears closed the season 25–5, capturing just the second state championship in school history and etching their 2025 team into the record books. With clutch hitting, dominant pitching, and a historic first title, Oskaloosa’s championship run stands as one of the top sports moments of the year.
