ACCHS Boys Win 2024 George Worley Invitational

The ACCHS boys wrestling team got first place out of 11 teams in the George Worley Invitational in Atchison on Saturday. The Tigers had three wrestlers win their respective classes including Nick Cairo, Kannon Crossland and Grant Swendson. They were ranked third in the KWCA's Class 3-2-1A rankings.

The Tigers combined for 124 points beating second-place Osage City by 15.5 points. Pleasant Ridge placed fourth with 104 points. Maur Hill-Mount Academy was right behind them with 84 points. Royal Valley finished in seventh place with 65 points.

Meanwhile, Oskaloosa placed eighth, Atchison placed ninth, Doniphan West placed tenth and Jefferson West finished in 11th.

On the girls’ side, Atchison had a pair of wrestlers win their weight classes including Morgan Molt in the 110-pound weight class and Oktavija Burnett in the 140-145-pound class.

Josalene Schnacker of Jefferson West won the 100-105-pound class while her teammates Kayla Dick and Kinley Shelman were runners-up in their respective classes.

Colie Clouse won the 115-pound weight class for Pleasant Ridge.

Morgan Allen and Rylie Nichols of Onaga both finished as runners-up in their weight classes.

Maria Peltzer of Maur Hill-Mount Academy placed first in the 155-pound class and Kyla Manuel finished third in the 130-135-pound class.
