Centralia starts season strong with third place finish at Wabaunsee

The Centralia volleyball team started their 2023 season with a third place finsh at the Amy Schutter Invitational Tournament at Wabaunsee on Saturday. 

The Panthers finished the day 4-1 with their lone loss in the semi-final to NEK 23-25 & 22-25. They would beat Wabaunsee in a thrilling match to claim third place 19-25, 29-27 & 25-20. 

Centralia was perfect in pool play with straight set wins over Axtell, Mission Valley, and Wabaunsee. 

Clifton-Clyde would finish the tournament with a record of 2-3. They went 1-2 in pool play with a win over Sacred Heart and losses to NEK and Rock Creek. 

The Eagles beat Mission Valley 23-25, 26-24 & 25-23 in the consolation semi-final before falling to Sacred Heart in three sets in the 5th place match. 

Axtell finished their tournament with a record of 1-5 with their lone win of the day coming against Mission Valley in pool play 25-23, 17-25 & 25-18.
