Hanover Girls, Axtell Boys Claim 2023 TVL Tournament Titles
The 2023 TVL Tournament concluded on Monday night with the Hanover girls and Axtell boys winning the Championship games.
The Lady Wildcats beat Doniphan West 71-61 to claim their first TVL Tournament title in 30 years. The #1 team in 1A-II improve to 11-0 and also got tournament wins over Valley Heights in the quarterfinals and Clifton Clyde in the Semi-Finals.
Doniphan West will finish runner-up and and got tourney wins over Centralia and Washington County to make the Championship game. The Mustangs finish the tourney with a record of 8-3.
The Clifton Clyde girls beat Washington County 52-30 to take home third place. Valley Heights beat Centralia 42-24 to finish in fifth place while Frankfort beat Linn 47-35 to finish in seventh place.
The Axtell boys claimed the title by winning the Championship over Blue Valley 63-57. The Eagles leave Washington County with the hardware and a record of 10-2. It's their first TVL tourney title since 2013.
Blue Valley suffers just their second loss of the season as they finish runner-up and are also 10-2 overall.
Clifton Clyde beat Hanover 63-48 to finish in third place. Troy beat Centralia 66-55 to finish in fifth place and Valley Heights knocked off Washington County 49-33 to finish in seventh place.
