State tournament brackets have been released for the Holton softball and Valley Falls baseball teams who will both be in action on Thursday.

The Lady Cats earned the top overall seed in Class 4A and will open tournament play against Winfield (14-8) at 5 p.m. in Salina.

Valley Falls meanwhile is the fourth seed in the 2-1A baseball bracket and will be rewarded with perennial power St. Mary’s-Colgan in the opening round at 5:45 p.m.
