Five Area Teams Highlight High School Football Rankings Entering District Play

Three weeks of the high school football season are in the books and five area teams are ranked in the newest polls released by Kpreps and the Cap Journal.

The top area ranked team continues to be the Sabetha Bluejays  who are now 3-0 on the season after rallying Friday night for a 41-21 win over Perry Lecompton.

Two area teams continue to be ranked in Class 1A according to the Kpreps rankings as Valley Heights is No. 4 with a 3-0 record after a 66-19 beat down of ACCHS while Centralia is fifth after shutting out St. Mary’s 40-0. Jackson Heights dropped out of both rankings in 1A after suffering n 18-14 loss to Maur Hill-Mount Academy.

The final two ranked area teams come in 8-man DII as Hanover and Axtell remain one and two with perfect 3-0 records. The Wildcats tied the 8-man record for consecutive wins with their 41st in a 66-16 beat down of Rock Hills while the Eagles rolled along with a 60-14 win over Onaga.

The rankings have a chance to have a huge shakeup next week with Sabetha hosting 3A No. 3 Marysville and Jackson Heights at 1A No. 3 Olpe.
