Centralia Volleyball Takes Second at Wabaunsee Invite to Lead Area Teams

The high school volleyball season opened for area teams Saturday at the Wabaunsee Invitational and the best area finish came from the 3-time defending state champion Centralia Panthers who finished second falling to the host Wabaunsee in the championship.

The Panthers finished 2-1 in pool play with wins over Oskaloosa and Mission Valley while falling to Wabaunsee before reaching the championship with a two-set win over Rock Creek.

Other teams at the Wabaunsee Invite included Oskaloosa who went 3-2 to take fifth earning a two-set win over Axtell in the fifth-place game.
