11 Area Teams Highlight Jan. 28 KBCA Rankings

Nearly all area high school basketball midseason tournaments came to a close over the weekend and with that the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association has released the newest set of rankings with 11 area teams ranked.
Just like last week three teams remain in the Class 3A rankings on the girls side, as Nemaha Central still sits at the top spot after taking second at the Wellsville Invitational last week. The Jeff West girls check in at No. 7 this week with an 11-2 record, while Pleasant Ridge is still at No. 10 after taking second in the JCN Invitational over the weekend.
On the boy’s side of the 3A rankings three teams three teams once again check in this week, as Maur Hill-Mount Academy has moved into the top overall spot with a perfect 10-0 record. Sabetha sits at No. 9 this week after moving to 9-4 with a pair off losses last week, while Perry Lecompton is at No. 10 in the rankings with a solid 11-2 record.
Three more area teams are into the girl’s 2A rankings with Jackson Heights holding the top overall spot for the first time this season with a record of 9-1 after advancing to the Hiawatha Invitational Championship game over the weekend. Jeff County North meanwhile checks in at No. 6 after claiming their home tournament championship, while Valley Heights is into the rankings at No. 8 with a record of 10-3.
The final ranked area teams come in Class 1A on the girls side, as Frankfort is up to No. 3 with a 12-1 record while Centralia is up to No. 5 with a record of 10-2.
