Centralia Volleyball Goes 3-0 on Day One of 1A State Tournament

Looking for a third consecutive 1A State Championship the Centralia Panthers showed Friday exactly why they are the No. 1-ranked team in the state going 3-0 with three straight set wins on the opening day of the 1A State Tournament in Emporia.

The Panthers opened up the day by easily getting by Otis-Bison, winning in two sets 25-14, 25-12.

Centralia then moved to 2-0 with another two set victory in their second match of the day, getting by Grinnell 25-11, 25-18.

The Panthers finished off the 3-0 day with another two-set win over Olpe, winning 25-19, 25-15.

The pair of wins pushed Centralia’s record to a perfect 45-0 on the season, while the Panthers also extended their win streak to 78-straight matches.

The Panthers are into the semifinals once again where they will take on Moundridge, while Olpe is in the second semifinal up against Spearville with both matches at 10 a.m. Saturday morning with live coverage of the Panthers on 92.1 KMZA.
