Atchison Volleyball Takes Second at Home Invitational

The high school volleyball season continued on Saturday as Atchison hosted an invitational featuring several area teams, and it was the host Lady Red who had the top finish taking second falling to Spring Hill in the championship match.

The Lady Red opened the tournament by going 3-0 in pool play with a pair of two set wins over Horton, KC Christian and Piper, and then took down Pleasant Ridge in two sets in the semifinals before falling to Spring Hill in two sets in the championship.

The second place finish marked the third for the Lady Red this season, as they are now 27-6 on the season.

Also competing at the Atchison Invitational Saturday was Pleasant Ridge who took fourth after going 1-2 in pool play, while Perry Lecompton took fifth and Maur Hill-Mount Academy sixth.

Horton also picked up a couple of wins on the day to take seventh, taking down KC Christian in the seventh place match.
