Perry Lecompton Boys Grab Berth Into 3A State Tournament

For the first time since 1982 and the eighth time in school history the Perry Lecompton Kaws boys basketball team will be headed to State after earning a 50-44 win over St. Mary's in the 3A Silver Lake Sub-State Championship game.

The Kaws led only 13-11 after the first quarter but that lead was gone by halftime as St. Mary's held a 26-23 advantage at intermission. Perry Lecompton tied the game up by the end of third with an 11-8 quarter and in the final eight minutes of play the Kaws posted a 16-10 fourth to take the 50-44 win over St. Mary's.

Canaan Daniels led Perry Lecompton with 22 points, while Colton Mallonee chipped in 12 points for the Kaws who with the win moved to 20-3 on the season and head into the State tournament on a four-game win streak.

Perry Lecompton draws the six seed and will play at 8:15pm on Wednesday, March 7th in Hutchinson against the three seed Cheney (21-2) at the 3A State tournament.
