Nemaha Central Volleyball Headed to 3A State Tournament

For the third time as Nemaha Central the Thunder are headed to the State volleyball tournament after winning their Sub-State over the weekend at Horton. 

The Thunder went into the Sub-State the one seed with a wide margin separating them and their opponents in the win/loss column. The Thunder as the one seed had a matchup with Hiawatha in the first round and cruised to straight set win 25-6, 25-6 to move into the Semifinals. In the Semifinals Nemaha Central took down Pleasant Ridge in straight sets 25-14, 25-14 to move one win away from a return trip to the Class 3A State volleyball tournament. 

Rival Sabetha stood in front of Nemaha Central in the Championship match and the Thunder sounded again for a win, claiming the Sub-State title in straight sets 25-12, 25-13 over Sabetha. 

The trip to the 3A State tournament marks the third time as Nemaha Central the school will be at the State tournament with the previous two ending in pool play. Nemaha Central heads into State with a 40-3 record and will be the number two seed in 3A State tournament in Emporia at White Auditorium. Thunder will play at 9:30 am for first pool play matchup against Silver Lake on Friday, Octber 27th and then play at 11:30 am against Erie and then wrap up pool play versus Hesston at 1:30.  All Nemaha Central State Volleyball matches will be aired live on KNZA 103.9 FM and www.mscsports.net.
