Area Teams Tee It Up at Atchison Boys Golf Invite

Boy’s golf season continued on Thursday in Atchison for many area teams as 13 schools fielded teams on the links in competition. 

The competition was controlled by non-area teams as the Top six team scores were by outside of the area teams with KC Christian leading the way posting a 312 to finish first place. Maur Hill-Mount Academy posted the best area performance taking seventh out of 13 teams with a 369 team score only six strokes out of a Top five finish. Holton, Immaculata and Hiawatha finished eighth, ninth and tenth as teams with scores of 371, 395 and 399, while Atchison and Royal Valley took 11th and 13th with team scores of 416 and 461, respectively.

The top individual performance from the area came at the hands of Immaculata's Evan Wheaton won finished fourth with a 75, while Holton Wildcat AJ Haussler shot a 78 and earned fifth place. 

Maur Hill was led by an 87 from Riley Funk on the day, while a 95 from Tom Nolte led Hiawatha's performances on the day. The host Atchison was led by Derek Thompson who shot a 95 and Royal Valley had their best performance come from Corey Humpert who shot a 105.
