The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 2014 Scholar-Athletes for this past football season on Thursday.  Doane College placed three among the 319 football players named to the list this past season.  Student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 and be of junior or senior academic status.

One of  the  Tigers recognized this year was junior Garrett Borcher, a junior from Pawnee City.

Borcher was named a Capital One First Team Academic All-American earlier this season.  He led the team in tackles this season with 96 which included 7.5 for loss and 3.5 on sacks.  Borcher had one interception, one fumble recovery and three pass break-ups while earning First Team All-GPAC.

The Tigers finished the season with a 7-3 overall record and 7-2 conference mark.  Doane was ranked No. 22 in the final regular season poll.
