Twin Valley All-League 11-Man & 8-Man Football Honors
The Twin Valley League once again showcased why it's ultra competitive and a League that produces top teams in the State in any sport. Football is no different as seven teams made the playoffs this year in 11-Man or 8-Man football.
In the 11-man football side of competition for the 16th straight year the Centralia-Wetmore Panthers claimed the League title going undefeated in League play and finishing the year 9-2, making the 3A playoffs in their first year in Class 3A. The Troy Trojans finished second in the League in their first season officially in the the League in football and finished with their best season since 2004, posting a 10-2 record and making the 2-1A Sub-State level of playoffs. Washington County wrapped up their season with a 6-3 record and just missed out on the 3A playoffs, while Onaga, Valley Heights and Doniphan West all made the Class 2-1A playoffs, meaning five of the six 11-Man TVL schools competed in postseason football. Onaga picked up a playoff win and finished the year 7-4, while Valley Heights posted a 5-5 record and Doniphan West finished 3-7.
At the 8-Man level of competition it was the Hanover Wildcats with the best finish on the year out of the TVL as the Wildcats returned to the State title game for the first time since 2009 and finished the year 12-1 and 8-Man Division I State Runner-ups. The Axtell Eagles were the only other TVL 8-Man team to make the playoffs and the Eagles flew to their best record since 2004, finishing 9-3 and making the 8-Man Division II Sub-State level of the playoffs. The Frankfort Wildcats and Linn Bulldogs both finished their seasons with 5-4 records, while Clifton-Clyde posted a 1-8 mark and Blue Valley finished 0-9 on the year.
