Falls City Softball Team Advances to District Semi Finals

(KLZA)-- The Falls City Tiger softball team knocked of top ranked and number one seed Southern Thursday on the opening day of the Class C District 1 softball tournament at Syracuse.  The final score was 5-4 in eight innings.  

The Tigers led 3-2 with two outs in the bottom of the 7th when Southern homered to tie it.  The Tigers went up 5-3 in the top of the 8th on a bunt hit by Molly Brown and a double by Taten O’Brien. 

Falls City defeated Freeman 9-1 in six innings in the opening game.  Molly Brown led the Tiger attack with a pair of homers in the game.

The 5th seeded Tigers have advanced to the semi finals and will play number 3 seed Ashland-Greenwood at noon Friday. 

In Class B District 1 action at Hannibal Park Auburn / HTRS lost their opener 10-0 to Lincoln Pius X.  The Thunderbolts then advanced to the semi-finals with a 4-3 win over top seed Beatrice.
