Holton Golfer Has Best Area Showing in 4A State Tourney, While Atchison and Perry Lecompton Golfer Compete

The Class 4A boys golf State tournament took place in the listening area as Firekeeper golf course in Mayetta played host to the competition. Only three area golfers took to the course in Mayetta on Tuesday, one from Holton, Atchison and Perry Lecompton each.

Holton Wildcat, Ethan Holaday wrapped up his golf season with the best finish of the three area golfers as he finished tied for 14th place after posting a 77 on the day. While both Jacob Morgison of Perry Lecompton and Gabe Julo of Atchison each tallied rounds of 88 to finish tied for 57th at the 4A State tournament.

The top individual score came at the hands of Marc McClain of Bonner Springs who shot a 69 to win by three strokes. Hayden high school won the team 4A title after putting together a four-man team score of 314, winning by 15 strokes.
