Tommy Armstrong Feeling More Comfortable as Husker QB

04/09/2014 9:27 AM | Regional Sports

(AP) - Tommy Armstrong Jr. is taking ownership of the Nebraska starting quarterback's job, saying he has learned from the mistakes he made last season.

The Cornhuskers won seven of the eight games Armstrong started in spite of his problem with turnovers. He threw eight interceptions. According to STATS, his rate of one for every 16 passes was the fourth-worst mark in the Bowl Subdivision for quarterbacks with at least 100 attempts.

Armstrong's priority this spring has been to be smarter about when and where to throw the ball. He says on more than 300 passes this spring, he's been intercepted only three times.

The Huskers play their spring game on Saturday.
